I'm not certain if my previous comment posted.
However, you can look for programs that teach pre-academic skills to preschoolers such as the
STAR (autism) program.

AS A MASTER'S DEGREE IN SP.ED. PLUS ADDITIONAL MEDICAL COURSES IN DIFFERENT WAYS CHILDREN LEARN, I PERSONALLY ACQUIRED MANY COMPUTERS W/CD DRIVES & PURCHASED THE CD'S ON PHONICS, READING, SPELLING, MATH, ETC.
I FOUND OUT THIS YEAR, THAT MY EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE WAS VOID. IN OKC
SCHOOLS, YOU ARE EVALUATED SOLELY ON READING=WORD FOR WORD (NO CHANGES ALLOWED)SCRIPT FOR VOYAGER.
REGARDLESS "WHAT THE CHILDREN ARE DOING" !!
IF THEY WANTED ROBOTS, THEY SHOULD HAVE PUT THEIR PROGRAM ON COMPUTERS..
AT ANY RATE, I TOOK EARLY RETIREMENT. NO CREATIVITY ALLOW. JUST MARCH TO THIS TREND. TOTALLY DISGUSTED WITH THIS ROBOT "TEACHING" !!
THIS IS JUST A SHARE
EXPERIENCE.

My number one struggle is an administrator who I do not perceive as understanding the needs of my preschoolers with disabilities. I consider myself still a new teacher, in the field through alternative certification rather than a university degree. (Year three, but without mentors currently. I am the only tenured teacher--three others have left, and the other teacher will do so at the end of her first year.) My students are at best 2 years behind in most developmental areas, and often 3 years behind--a big gap since they are 3 and 4 years of age. I don't consider it appropriate to try to teach graphing and alphabet to children who are under one year developmentally, yet that is the administrator's push. I love this age group, and feel that I am just beginning to develop materials and understanding, and I would really not like to change positions, and wonder if there would be any more support elsewhere. Any suggestions?

I have worked in special education for 12 years. Over the years I have seen changes in the education field. I believe collaboration between educators is very important in students' learning. I hear tales from some special educators that general educators is not willing to work with them and modify for their students' and therefore the student is failing. It seems that special educators and general educators have got to start collaborating together in order for their students' to be successful. Things need to be put aside and put the student first.

My question is: How does one get other professionals on board when it comes to collaborating about a students' learning? Is collaborating with all professional educators involved with the student not a major part of making sure the student can be and is successful in school?
