It’s Thursday, the weekend is almost here. The last time I wrote I gave you “time.” Today I have free stuff. I haven’t met a teacher yet who would turn down something free. Everything free isn’t always good, but rest assured, this one is worth it.
How many times have you gone out to buy fancy certificates to recognize the accomplishments of your students? I know that I have used my money for this more times than I can remember. I have found a website that will save you money. 1 2 3 Certificates is an amazing website for teachers. This website provides free printable certificates for all occasions. You can make an original certificate or select one of the pre-made certificates that include various academic achievements, sports, birthdays, awards, holidays, spelling bees, geography bees, and many more.

Once you check out the site, you will be inspired to create opportunities to reward your students with the colorful and creative certificates. Not only did I use the certificates for my students, I made acknowledgments for adults in the school, for parents, and for volunteers. Adults appreciate recognition too.
I have also used the certificates as a way to let parents and guardians know that their children are making progress. When I didn’t have time to make a phone call home I would print out a certificate and give it to a student or stick it in the mail. Parents were always pleased to receive good news. Using the certificates as positive reinforcement motivated me to catch my students doing the right thing.
