I also think that the school districts should promote all holidays, they are all part of our heritage and traditions as a country, for example, thanksgiving. These are times where children are taught to give and go out of their way to be kind. These holidays should be emphasized upon, not condemned.

The school districts and some parents are very strict about any holidays and I feel as a parent that they should promote all holidays that are celebrated and encourage the activities. It teaches about culture and differences. I am Wiccan but I don't have a problem with my children discussing and for that sake celebrating Christmas. It is something that everyone celebrates in their own way. We don't discuss God with Christmas but it is a time to give graciously. I think educating the children on these cultures is the same as teaching them about Presidents day, or Thanksgiving.

Why can't you celebrate Halloween in your SDC? That part wasn't clear to me from your blog entry.
Thanks,
C
