My son is touched daily by teachers just like you. From a mom my son would not be where he is today without all the hard work, understanding, patience and compassion of those hard working "special Ed" teachers like you out there. I am sure I speak for each of your parents when I saw we are ALSO most Thankful for you all. You are making a difference. Even if you don't hear it enough.

Megan,
Like you I am thankful for all those who help me out daily and especially for my "babies." Seven years ago, while working in first grade, I was diagnosed with depression/anxiety. There were days, before I was officially diagnosed, that I would stand at the front of my class and cry for no reason. My students would be so gentle and concerned. I never wanted to leave my class but would be gently escorted and told to go home. I made it through that year with all of the support and love from my students and friends.

I teach kindergarten now and these students are probably the most loving. They always tell me that they love me and want big hugs. I am always willing to give my students hugs, snotty nose or not. I feel that the hug I give my students may be the only hug they receive that day.

My heart melts every time a student asks to go home with me, even if they have to clean up after my cats and dogs. I am often called momma. I am missed when I am absent. At the beginning of the year I broke my ankle and my students spoiled me because they worked hard to make sure every thing was in the exact order that I expected. My ankle is much better now but my students are always very careful not trip over me or bump my ankle.

You can't ask for anything better!!
