I just wanted to commend you for your thought and desire to advocate for and educate your students. As the Mom of a child with special needs, I know first hand how much we need people like you in the field. I applaud you!

Curriculum-Based Measurement (CBM) can give you a great way to measure progress using frequent but very short (2-3 minutes) probes to sample the curriculum over the space of a semester or more. Here's a link to get started with from the Iris Center at Vanderbilt.

While you can design your own probes, there are many available on the net at site like interventioncentral.org

Hope that helps a bit.

Great job son. I am so proud of you and you are a wonderful teacher for your students. They are very lucky to have someone that is wanting to teach them life skills a long with giving them an education. I applaud you son, keep up your hard work it will pay off. I love you Ma
