Thanks Mary Beth! It has been disconcerting, but it's been fun, too. Now that my offices are all set up, I do feel better! And now that students are in the building, they stop by to give my hugs and say hi. It turns out that they miss me, too. It makes me feel good to know that I impacted their lives in a positive way, and it helps me walk away with a good feeling. I've also been doing some mentoring of new math teachers, and that's helping feel like I'm not abandoning my math students completely. :)

Hi Danielle! I've moved around a LOT in my teaching career--different grades, schools, and changing from gen ed to spec ed. Once you start working with your new students, I don't think you will miss the old ones/classroom/co-workers as much. However, it is OK to miss them, for a variety of reasons; one of which is that it was familiar--I'll bet you had most of the Inservice Week/Room Set Up 'kinks' ironed out [seriously, your past week sounds nightmarish!]. Am glad to hear you are settled in--GOOD LUCK in 2012-13. Mary Beth Diehl, early childhood special educator
